This life-threatening hypertensive disorder is responsible for the thousands of women and babies who get very sick each year.

May is preeclampsia month and we want to stress the importance of how this dangerous condition could affect the lives of women and babies out there.

The goal of this episode is to educate parents & birth professionals on what preeclampsia is, and why pregnant women (especially women of color) should listen to their bodies and learn about the signs & symptoms of preeclampsia, including postpartum preeclampsia.

Dr. Crystal Berry-Roberts is a Board Certified OB/GYN physician with more than ten years of experience. She makes listening to her patient's voices a valued priority in the healthcare process. Recognized as one of Austin's Top Doctors for Women (2020); a Texas Super Doctors 2021 Rising Stars; and a Central Texas Top African American Doctor (2021), Dr. Roberts recognizes how women often put themselves last on the list which sometimes results in negative health. She provides gynecological exams and treats reproductive system disorders emphasizing that nothing is routine about a woman’s health. She helps patients have confidence in their care whether this is their first visit to the gynecologist, a first or subsequent pregnancy, they’re starting to think more about family plans, or it’s their annual exam while approaching menopause.
